An interview with Pope Francis about life struggles and making mistakes in life.

Some words to think about from a New York Times interview with Pope Francis about life struggles and making mistakes in life.

If encountering God is a journey, then we can make mistakes?

If one has the answers to all the questions — that is the proof that God is not with him. It means that he is a false prophet using religion for himself. The great leaders of the people of God, like Moses, have always left room for doubt. You must leave room for the Lord, not for our certainties; we must be humble.
… Our life is not given to us like an opera libretto, in which all is written down; but it means going, walking, doing, searching, seeing. … We must enter into the adventure of the quest for meeting God; we must let God search and encounter us.
… If the Christian is a restorationist, a legalist, if he wants everything clear and safe, then he will find nothing. Tradition and memory of the past must help us to have the courage to open up new areas to God. Those who today always look for disciplinarian solutions, those who long for an exaggerated doctrinal “security,” those who stubbornly try to recover a past that no longer exists — they have a static and inward-directed view of things. In this way, faith becomes an ideology among other ideologies. I have a dogmatic certainty: God is in every person’s life. God is in everyone’s life. Even if the life of a person has been a disaster, even if it is destroyed by vices, drugs or anything else — God is in this person’s life. You can, you must try to seek God in every human life. Although the life of a person is a land full of thorns and weeds, there is always a space in which the good seed can grow. You have to trust God.

Thorn Raises More than just Glasses at Launch Event - Jewelry Line Brings in Thousands for Charity

Thorn Raises More than just Glasses at Launch Event
Jewelry Line Brings in Thousands for Charity

Niv & Chris Paul
Philadelphia, PA – Last Thursday evening, March 26, Eldad Eli Niv (“Niv”) launched his new jewelry line, Thorn, to great aplomb at the iconic repurposed church of the Fleisher Art Memorial.  Ensuring attendees would have an opportunity to purchase the beautifully designed rings, bracelets and necklaces, Niv also ensured the night would be about more than just a great time in a fantastic venue, donating 15% of all proceeds to two charities: The Chris Paul Foundation and the Philadelphia School Partnership.

Always deeply philanthropic, Niv isn’t content to stop there.  He is now pledging that 10% of sales from Thorn’s website from now, March 31st, until April 26th will go to the Philadelphia School Partnership.  Having worked with NBA All-Star Chris Paul—who was in attendance Thursday night—and his charity for years, Niv decided to add the Philadelphia School Partnership to his benevolent plate.  “I have kids,” said Niv, “[and] I think Philly has a lot of problems in the school system and it’s kind of sad to see schools closing down or cutting back. So we decided to do that [in addition to The Chris Paul Foundation].”  True to the ideology he brings into designing his wearable art, Niv’s contributions to both charities come from the heart. “People do things for different reasons,” he said.  “I think you can get the best out of yourself if you do it because you love it…I want to make inspiration with my jewelry. I think it’ll make people feel good.”

Fleisher Art Memorial

At his Jose Garces-catered launch party Thursday evening, there was no question that “good” was the pervasive feeling.  Attended by over 200 friends, clients, and supporters the event was an amalgamation of cocktails, style, and music set amongst a gothic backdrop.  It was the perfect environment to introduce Thorn; a line created to positively impact people and, in turn, is creating a positive impact in the community.

Patrons can purchase Thorn exclusively at Benari Jewelers and online at www.thornbyniv.com. All of Thorn’s designs are solely handmade in the USA and utilize all of the latest technology in computer-aided design.  Thorn has been copyrighted and trademarked.
